What We Believe

We believe people love to be inspired! Our Home Furniture Store Team in Columbia Would Love to Help With The Inspiration!

There can be many sources of inspiration in your life, and one of them can be your home.

People want a home where they can love, build family and lasting friendships, laugh, work, recharge and create memories. They want a place of comfort they can walk into after a long day, put their guard down and feel peaceful and hopeful. Some people struggle to create that on their own, or need help executing what they have envisioned.

At Living on 6th, a unique home furniture store in Columbia, we sell furniture, lighting, and decor, but our mission is so much greater. We want to help provide that inspiration for your home. We want you to walk into our store, say “Wow!” and begin to piece together that vision. We want to listen and be a source of ideas. We want to inspire through the way we treat people and the atmosphere we provide.

We believe in treating people right — our customers, suppliers, employees and the community.

We will act with integrity in all that we do. We will be an asset to our community.

We believe in excellence.

The team at our home furniture store in Columbia works to improve a little bit each week as we strive to be a great resource and friend to our neighbors.

Our Story

The vision for opening Living on 6th, previously known as Living615, to sell new furniture and décor had its roots in our sister store, Vintage 615, our award winning women’s clothing boutique, gift store and vendor marketplace which is now an online boutique, renamed as Sweet Maggie Rose. In 2016, Margaret Ziegler had been a vendor at Vintage for several years. Meanwhile, Chris Ziegler was completing his 31st year as an engineer at General Motors, and was ready to move on to something new. When the opportunity came available to purchase Vintage 615 two days after Chris submitted his retirement papers, the Zieglers felt that God had opened a door for them and jumped at the opportunity.

Vintage 615 became a favorite within the community, winning numerous awards including Favorite Retailer in Spring Hill and Favorite Boutique in Spring Hill, as well as winning the hearts of its patrons. However, it was through the sales of repurposed furniture in the Vendor Marketplace that we realized there was a need and desire for a source of furniture in Spring Hill. In May, 2018 we opened Living615 to sell new furniture in a small (very small) building across the street from Vintage. The reception from the community was enthusiastic which led Living615 to have its own location at 5270 Main Street in Spring Hill. The story would be incomplete without the mention of Lisa Thompson, our store visionary and design leader. Lisa has an amazing eye, a passion for design and a soft and gentle heart for people. Lisa is the inspiration behind the look and feel of the store. Without her involvement every step of the way, Living615/Living on 6th would not be the store it is today.

When our building in Spring Hill was being sold, we found an even bigger and better home furniture store in Columbia, Tennessee! With our relocation to Columbia, we also undertook a slight change in our identity. We were no longer in the 615 area code and now find ourselves on 6th Street in the heart of downtown Columbia. So, it only made sense that we adapt our name to resonate with our new location. As such, Living615 evolved into Living on 6th!

Our Team

Chris and Margaret Ziegler — Owners

When Chris Ziegler graduated from the University of Wisconsin — Milwaukee with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, followed by a master’s degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Stanford University and a thirty-one year career at General Motors, he didn’t know he was preparing for a career in fashion and home decor.

Today, he and his wife, Margaret, co-own and operate Living on 6th, previously known as Living615 and Sweet Maggie Rose, previously known as Vintage 615. Between the two stores, they offer a variety of unique gifts, clothing, antiques, home goods, furniture and design services for the Columbia community. Margaret oversees Sweet Maggie Rose, while Chris focuses on Living on 6th and serves as the back-office books guy, fix-it man, IT fellow, and furniture put-it-togetherer.

Together the Zieglers (and their beloved dog, Shelby) have found their passion in caring for their customers, helping them find the perfect items for their homes or closets, and offering a comfortable, local shopping experience to all who enter their doors of their unique home furniture store in Columbia.
